Most kids have never met a real scientist – we want to change that!

Brain Discovery is an exciting neuroscience outreach program that brings Washington University scientists into local 4th-6th grade classrooms.  Participating classes are paired with visiting scientists who meet with the class one hour per week over a six-week period.  Students have an opportunity to explore the brain and nervous system through hands-on experiments and activities, while learning about the scientific process and what it means to be a scientist.  From seeing your own cells under a microscope, to recording electricity in your body, to touching a real human brain, each week is full of new and fascinating science to explore!

Schools in the greater St. Louis area are eligible for the program, with priority given to those that serve populations underrepresented in the sciences.  There is no cost to participate.  We will only be offering our classes for homeschool sessions in Spring 2024. For more information, see the links above or feel free to contact us at BrainDiscoveryProgram@gmail.com
